Our Community Center in Managua is expanding! We are moving out the wall of the Great Room which will expand it from about 15ft by 30 to 30 ft by 30 ft. We are also building new walls so that we can put a second story on it in the future.
The Community Center, headed by Arturo and Darling Castro, serves about 80 kids a week now. When the Great Room is finished it will be able to serve up to 150 kids per week. The community is very excited and more volunteers are coming forward from the churches and nearby neighborhoods to help with more projects in the Center.
We need to raise about $4700 to finish this project which includes the roof, stucco and painting work on the whole building so old the part of the building and the new part of the building match. It will be the one of the nicest buildings around and speaks hope to the kids and the community. When kids in Central America have hope, they learn and when they have opportunities to learn they have a future and can create change in their country. The goal is then not to leave and “escape to the United States” but to better their home communities and country.
Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere but it is changing. Everywhere I go I tell the kids to learn English and develop computer skills AND not to leave God out of the equation of their life. I always try to encourage them and tell them to have hope because “He has a plan for you!”
Your prayers and support are making a difference!
